Climate Compass

Climate Compass is an independent, community-driven report mapping the early-stage startups building toward a decarbonized, resilient, and abundant future. Authored by a coalition of leading climate investors and operators - from True Ventures, Prelude Ventures, Planeteer Capital, Wireframe Ventures, and SOSV, among others - it profiles roughly fifty companies across the technologies most likely to define the next decade of climate progress. Wunderdogs served as Creative Partner, shaping the report's editorial identity and information design.
Designing a point of view
We approached Climate Compass as an editorial product. Working with the author coalition, we built a visual system organized around the report's core themes — Virtual Power Plants, Industry 2.0, Critical Materials, Next-Gen Energy, Supply Chains, Natural Capital Markets, AI-enhanced Risk Modeling, Bioengineering, and Grid Resilience. Each theme received its own color world, giving readers a sense of place as they moved through dense material, while a consistent typographic system kept the whole report feeling like one considered voice.
Making fifty companies feel like one report
The heart of Climate Compass is a repeatable company profile: a clean template pairing each startup's positioning with an at-a-glance fact panel, followed by a structured "Opportunity overview" and “Driving forces”. Designing this system once, then applying it across roughly fifty companies, let the report scale without losing coherence.
Climate Compass turned a multi-author industry survey into a premium editorial experience: a color-coded, theme-driven system that made fifty climate-tech companies and a dozen expert perspectives read as one confident point of view.
