Genomic experimentation is growing at an unprecedented rate, but sample preparation remains a significant bottleneck in the pipeline. Volta Labs had realized solving the bottleneck challenge had the potential to reshape how we think of biological experimentation. They have created a platform-based sample preparation solution that is more flexible, reliable, and scalable by engineering the full stack; hardware, software, chemistry, and biology.
With an established concept and prototype in place, Volta Labs were preparing for Series A funding and in need of developing a brand that could position them as a mature, significant player in the biotech sector.
We kicked off with identifying the fundamentals of the brand, what they wanted to achieve and how they were going to do it. We built a clear mission and vision statement that set the direction, giving the team a base to define the rest of the brand. We began to define the value proposition, understanding what was unique, valuable and engaging to their core audience. By digging into the benefits and aligning these against the needs of labs we created a balanced focus on the product and team, both equally important to investment partners and customers.
Our identity flowed from this and the unique personality of the brand, bringing to life the world of genomics and biological automation in ways that felt different to the rest of the category.
Animation, contrast of a bold and light color palette and flowing lines combine to create a clean, purposeful feel that allows the product to speak for itself.
Richly detailed iconography and graphic visuals bring to life the complexity and level of technological advance Volta Labs has achieved. When paired with imagery of the product and team, it creates a sense of expertise and scale that aims to appeal to a broad audience and captures the potential of their offer.
Volta Labs announced their $20M Series A alongside their brand and web launch in summer 2022.
