Basecamp Research uses advanced technology to redefine protein discovery within the natural world. To date less than 1% of the natural proteins that exist in nature have been discovered. There is a world of opportunity deep within biodiverse environments. The challenge the team faced was how to build a brand that could utilize biodiversity, translating discovery into usable technology.
We had to create a positioning that respected biodiverse environments and the guardians that protect it with the innovation requirements of biotechnology companies turning natural discovery into new products for the bioeconomy. We began with a deep dive into the business and the audience, quickly understanding that while the path between the two existed it was unclear how each audience benefited from each other. We created a positioning that addressed each audiences needs while highlighting Basecamp Research as a collaborative partner to both, utilizing their unique discovery, analysis and delivery technology to unlock the full potential of the natural world.
Exploring the balance between technology and nature, we created an identity that expressed the Basecamp Research team’s origins in expedition and discovery, bringing through natural colors and real in the field photography to ground the brand in the natural world. This was complemented by key visuals that brought to life the technological advances the team uses to collect, analyze and deliver data to the biotech industry.

The resulting new brand and digital platform built for growth will support Basecamp Research as they scale.
